I love hiking and playing out in nature for hours on end. Food plays an important role in making this possible. I also like to stay nourished when I’m back in town working with clients and blogging. So when I find a new convenient snack option I usually do a little dance. When it’s something delicious and unique you can bet I’m going to share it with friends. So check out my find in the video above!

Unfortunately, Exo seems to have discontinued their savory flavors (at least as of April 2017) and I can’t recommend the sweet flavors because I have never tried them (and friend who did said they weren’t any good). I’m not a big fan of protein candy bars and even though the only refined sugar Exo uses is juice concentrate (syrup), I still feel like the sugar to protein ratio makes the sweet bars a less than ideal choice. I do see this company as a sign that people are starting to look toward more sustainable and nutritious sources of protein and nutrition. I’m excited to see how else people begin to incorporate cricket flour and other bugs into their diet! I’ll let you know if I try anything myself.

I ordered these bars on the sole basis of their appearance on Traci’s and Skya’s website. I did not read any info. Pure faith purchase. But, when they arrived, and before I opened the box, I returned to their website and decided to watch Skya’s six minute video on EXO bars.
BUGS??!! Cute little crickets! Oh well, too late now. I guess I will try one.
Later.
Super Yummy.

I’m not surprised 😀 On my recent trip to Ireland, I read an article in the on-board magazine about a few restaurants and companies that are using and promoting crickets, cricket flour, and other insects in their food. Now I wish I’d kept it for you. Love seeing you and Lisa in the video, so sweet!
